Studio Friday topic for October 13th:
This week's topic for Friday October 13th suggested by Casey: "FEAR!"
"I have been away from Studio Friday for a while, and I really struggled
with the toot your own horn topic. It actually made me do some free-writing
and I thought of another topic that might be helpful for some of the Studio Friday artists: Fear.
~Casey
I have been 'chewing' on this topic for a few days. "FEAR" isn't something that I often think about. Of course I have the normal fears... losing family members, falling behind schedule, disappointing someone and so forth and so on. But those fears aren't something that I wrestle with on a daily basis. I don't have any quirky fears or superstitions such as Triskaidekaphobia or Arachnaphobia or Acrophobia. I don't think I really have any deep-rooted fears at all. I have things that bother me. For instance, I CANNOT STAND anticipation of being scared. Suspense movies are ok but a haunted house walk through at Halloween is just out of the question for me. KNOWING that I am going to be startled is something I can't STAND. If you read my blog entry on October 11th, you'll see that when I get startled or 'scared' if you will, I have a weird defense mechanism where I instantly burst into tears. It's not crying as in "Waaaaa! BOO HOO" Type crying, it's just that my eyes react in such a way that it's an instant waterfall. I HATE it. So I guess you can say I have a fear of being startled!

I can see your point on that! It's an interesting fear but hey, it's fear none-the-less! I love a good ole spooky flick or a walk through a haunted house! :)
Isn't it an ODD fear?? LOL I am a spaz.. I admit it! LOL!!
What a neat idea to have a topic each week to get you thinking. I may have to look into doing this too. You enabler!!
You know, your "fear" is not as odd as you may think. I am very much the same way. I work myself up into such a tizzy sometimes. Not surprising, we are alike in so many ways.
Hugs and Love,
C
hehe.. spaz, that's funny.
I was reading your post from 11 Oct. I feel exactly the same when I see someone high up, or on the edge of something way up, I get all nervous. When we had window washers in our old studio, I had to leave the room till they were done. Drives me nuts.
I feel this way too...always afraid of wa=hat may happen, cant do scarey movies at all & always seem to cry immediateely when frightened or scared...drives my boyfriend mad!!

That is something that makes me crazy...knowing something is going to happen but when? My Dh wants me to go this haunted house at the State prison every year and I amazingly enought {forget} to fit it in :) every year! the thought creeps me out. Like I may pee in my pants and cry all at once!
My startle reflex is to lash out. There is no thought, just instantaneous reaction. Some self-preservation gene without enough to do I guess...believe me, bursting into tears would be much more appropriate at times! Not surprisingly, I hate being startled or surprised, and will often read the end of a book if I find I am getting anxious, then I can go back and enjoy it minus the suspense.
Thanks for the comment! I'm with you on the haunted house thing - I'll never ever set foot in one. hehe :)
Fear is a strange thing. I have only one fear, which is strange. I fear dying in a plane crash, yet I don't fear death. Strange huh? I just don't want to die in that way.
It's good not to let fear rule your world!
Man, I ALWAYS love your posts!! Yup, you pretty much seem (to me) like a fearless woman, very corageous and strong! So, I totally understand your point. I think it's a much better reaction than mine, I usually FREEZE...
Hugs, my friend!
Gabi,
I know lots of people with that kind of fear reaction. I could never find friend or cousin to accompany me to the haunted house at the fair.
