{Studio Friday} 'Sidekicks'

This week's topic is "Studio Sidekicks" and it was suggested by my buddy, Debbie!

This topic is a fun one for me! I have several Studio Sidekicks and I would love to 'introduce' them to you!
This is my 14 year old Therapy Dog, Bailey. She's a grand old girl and is never more than 24 inches from me at any given moment. She's great at giving advise and letting me know it's ok to just hang out once in a while. Her calm personality is very soothing to my frazzled spirit at the end of the day. She inspires me with my more serious and intricate creations.

This is Zippity. She's the inspiration for all my silly art.
Her energy lends itself to my own crazy personality which makes for a really fun day in the studio (fun meaning MESSY!) She's always on the hunt, finding scraps of paper I drop and 'killing' them to be sure that they don't come to life and forge an army and attack!! Zippity appreciates silly and whimsical art and loves to help me create with her own medium...... MUD! I am forever wiping her paws before letting her in the house. She loves mud and thinks that every surface should have atleast a few spatters! If we gave her her way, she'd change the complete decor of the entire house!

This is "Dude". He's a 3 year old Red Eared Slider turtle.

He's a very serious fellow. Most of his time is spent basking under his full spectrum UV light, looking at me like I'm COMPLETELY insane and sleeping. He lends very little to my actual creativity but he's a fun little companion to hang out with on the rare occasion that he actually DOES anything! (Come on folks, he's a turtle...what's he supposed to do, don a top hat a cane and a pair of tap shoes?!) He's cute and he loves being hand fed. Oh yeah!!! The mini waterfall in his tank is VERY soothing to listen to so I guess in a way he does lend a little ambience to my Studio.

Studio companions (whatever they may be) give our studios a splash of personality. I am, very much, an animal person and have one or both of my dogs with me almost all of the time. For me they are a feeling of security, inspiration and just plain silliness! They help me get my creative juices flowing and for that I'm eternally greatful!

Darn I missed Studio Friday! Oh well, not the first time...lol!!

Love your sidekicks, mine would be my doggie too...she's 90 lbs of one BIG BABY that loves to crowd me out of my studio!!!

I can really see the dogs' personalities just in their pictures, one soft and sweet, the other a rebel rouser. My mom has a turtle that has quite a lot of personality...we think it thinks it's a dog! When she lets "Bud" out of the tank, he treks all over, follows the pooch, and sometimes crawls into bed with her. Too funny!

We call thoughs 'Painted Turtles' in Canada -because they look like some one painted on them, with the red and the stripes....

Love your slider! Mine is about a year and half, give or take. She's a bundle of energy, rearranging her rocks all day, till she feels like chill'n under her lamp. She's my fist turtle and I'm so glad I got her. Do you hand feed yours?

Although I believe all pets are therapeutic, the dogs who become official therapy dogs are incredibly special! Love your dogs and turtle, too.

Wow! I finally get to see Zippity! he's great. I love Jack Russels and almost got one - they are great for keeping woodchucks out of horse pastures and I just love their spunk! I've seen woodchucks back down a full grown fox and here a little Jack will just go down their holes and kill them! They are not called "tenacious terriers" for nothing! And HEY - Zippity shares Mac's favorite medium! Sometimes I think Mac is a pig and not a horse the way he wallows in it and THEN he paints everything (including me when I bring him in) with his nose!!

Bailey is a sweetie! She must be a great therapy dog because she has such a beautiful, calm face! I'm planning to take Penny for the therapy dog test next time its given. Although I don't know if she'll be a good one. She is not as focused on people as her Lab pal Molly. She may just be too young still (just turned 2). But she is very well behaved and she LOVES children. So I figured I'd try - we'll see if she flunks :-)

Oh - almost forgot Dude. He sounds pretty "centered" and he certainly has you all figured out! *lol*

Hi,

Thanks for your comments over at my site about the five-minute drill. I left a suggestion for you there.

I used to have two cats who curled up on the corner of my desk together and stayed there while I worked. Very soothing.

Hey Gabi--

I tried to find your email, to send you a response to your comment on my blog but I couldn't find it--so I'm just posting here.
I think that is so cool that you are into World War II memorabilia. I have a ton of photos of my dh's grandfather in the War; they are just priceless~
Yep, my dh Sydney is 2 (she turned 2 on March 31). She is something else!!
Thanks for stopping by, and for your comments.
I'm enjoying your blog too!
